Jiro Katakura, rose to fame in the movie Magnifico, in a breakout role that won him several awards; has been found roaming around Ninoy Aquino International Airport, dressed in old clothes and depending from the charities of strangers.
In an interview, Jiro said that he does not want to go back to acting and had nowhere to go. It was reported that he fought with his foster father Andrew Manio.
According to the report, a security guard named Frank Sorca said that Jiro told him he couldn't stay home because of enemies there. There were also bruises and cuts on his body. "He looked as if he hasn’t had a decent meal and his clothes were dirty,” Sorca said.
Following the reports about Jiro, people in showbiz have also express their concern for the former child star. He has two children and also battled a drug problem, entering rehab twice in the past. Stars such as Ai-Ai delas Alas and IC Mendoza express concern for troubled former child actor.

On Facebook, Anjo Santos, who said he was Jiro's younger brother, posted a message for those criticizing his brother's condition. "Sa mga nag sasabi na pa rehab yung kuya ko ulit dahil wala ng pag asa na magbago, wag po kayo ganun. Dahil hindi niyo po alam kung gaano kahirap 'yung pinagdadaanan niya at ang pamilya namin ngayon, hindi niyo alam ang tunay na kwento. Hindi na po sya nag drudrugs, kailangan niya po ng suporta at pagmamahal ngayon dahil nagdaan po siya sa matinding depression.
